Course project
This is where you show you can do what the course promised. Build your project in the builder below. The site checks each rubric row and tells you what to fix. Your certificate needs this step and a passed Posttest.
Capstone rubric
The site checks each part. A row passes when your work matches Ready. You need all six rows.
| Part | Not yet | Getting there | Ready |
|---|---|---|---|
| Goal and course | No goal or course. | A goal, but no course yet. | One clear life goal and one course that fits it. |
| Study times | No times planned. | Times, but no day or place. | Three 15 minute times, each with a day, time, and place. |
| Method | Reread only. | Names a method, but did not try it. | Uses quiz yourself and space it out, and tried them. |
| Screen tool | None turned on. | Turned one on, but did not use it. | Uses at least one tool during study. |
| Help source | None named. | Named, but no contact. | One free help source with a phone, address, or website. |
| Check in | No note. | A note, but not after 7 days. | A 7 day note: what worked, what did not, one change. |
Compare your capstone: example answers
These are made up examples. Compare your work row by row.
A strong example
- Goal and course: help my son with fractions; 020 Everyday Math.
- Study times: Mon 7 p.m. kitchen table, Wed 12:30 p.m. break room, Sat 9 a.m. library, 15 minutes each, phone alarm set.
- Method: quiz myself on Mon and Sat, mixed problems on Wed.
- Screen tool: read aloud on my phone.
- Help source: Lake County Library, 555 0142, open until 8 p.m.
- Check in, day 7: did 3 of 3. Mornings were easy. Change: move Wed to Thu.
A weak example, with feedback
- Weak: Goal: get smarter. Why and how to fix: Too big, and no course. Ask what you want to do in your life, then match one course.
- Weak: Study times: at night. Why and how to fix: No day or place. Write day, time, and place for each of three times.
- Weak: Help source: the library. Why and how to fix: No contact. Add a phone number, address, or website.
Fix it and try again
For each row that says Not yet, read the feedback above, go back to the lesson for that part, and fix it. Then press Check my project again. You can do this as many times as you want.
End of course self check
Mark how sure you feel about each goal. This is not a grade, and it does not change your certificate.
| I can... | 1 = not yet, 2 = with notes, 3 = on my own |
|---|---|
| Name a goal and pick a course for it. | 1 2 3 |
| Plan three 15 minute study times. | 1 2 3 |
| Quiz myself and space out my study. | 1 2 3 |
| Use read aloud, bigger text, and captions. | 1 2 3 |
| Find free learning help near me. | 1 2 3 |
