Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information BMU collects and how it is used. We keep it simple: we collect as little as we can.
Information stored on your device
Course progress, reflection notes, quiz answers, Rise Daily Tracker check marks, and worksheet entries are saved in your own browser using local storage. This information is not sent to us. You can clear it at any time by using the reset buttons on the site or by clearing your browser's site data.
Information you choose to send us (our forms)
We only receive information when you fill in and send one of our forms. Each form collects only what it shows you:
- All Access waitlist: your email address, an optional first name, the course you were looking at, and your OK to be emailed when enrollment opens.
- Newsletter, email list, 12 Day Rise Daily Plan and guide requests: your email address and, if you type it, your first name. If you choose to email yourself your tool results, we also receive a short text copy of those results so we can send them to you.
- Help Center contact form: your name, email address, the topic you pick and your message.
- Tutor requests and tutor applications: what you type into the form (see below).
- Course survey and 30 day follow-up: optional and anonymous (see below).
Forms are processed by our website host, Netlify. Netlify's record of each submission includes your IP address. Email addresses for our mailing lists are stored with our email service, MailerLite. We use this information only to send what you asked for and related BMU updates. You can unsubscribe from any email with one click, or ask us to delete your information at any time with the BMU support form.
The random device ID kept in your browser
BMU has no logins. To keep your place, your browser stores your course progress, badges, notes and test results in its own local storage (localStorage) on your device. The first time you save a test or send a survey, your browser also makes a random device ID, a string of letters and numbers saved under the name bmu.device. It is not linked to your name, email or any account, and it never leaves your device unless you send a course survey or a 30 day follow-up, which include it so we can match your before and after answers without knowing who you are.
Because all of this lives in one browser, it does not follow you to another browser or device. You can erase your test answers and the device ID at any time with the "Clear my test data" button on any test page, or erase everything by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.
Pre-tests and post-tests
Some courses have a pre-test and a post-test. Your answers, scores and number of tries are saved only in your browser, under the course name. They are not sent to us unless you choose to send the optional course survey, which includes your pre-test score, your first post-test score and how many tries you took.
Course feedback survey and 30 day follow-up
After you pass a post-test, you can answer a short, optional, anonymous course survey before you print your certificate. Every question is optional and you can skip the whole survey. If you send it, we receive your answers, the course and version numbers, your pre-test score, your first post-test score, how many tries you took, and the random device code. The survey never asks for your name or email, so please do not type private details in the comment boxes. Netlify processes the form, and its submission record includes your IP address. We plan to delete raw survey submissions within 12 months, after we export them and sort the comments into themes. We report results only for groups of 10 or more and never publish a comment without the writer's clear OK.
The last question asks if we may check in after 30 days. If you choose "on this device," we save a reminder date in your browser and show a short link on a later visit. If you choose email, you type your address in a separate form that is never joined to your survey answers. We send one email at 30 days, then delete the address.
Tutor requests and applications
If you request a tutor, we use your request to look for a match and may share your first name, subject, goal, times and time zone with a tutor to arrange an introduction. If you apply to tutor, we use your application to review you and, if you are approved, show only your first name, subjects, short bio, rate and availability on the site. Background checks, when required, will be run by a screening company only with your separate consent. You can ask us to delete a request or application at any time.
Payments
BMU does not collect payments yet. Nothing on this site is for sale today, and no form here asks for a card. BMU All Access: Enrollment opens Nov 9, 2026. Before it opens, we will update this policy to explain how payments work. Card payments will be handled by our payment processor, and BMU will not see or store your full card number.
We send email through MailerLite. Every email includes a one click unsubscribe link and our mailing address. We do not sell or rent your email address.
Analytics
We do not currently use analytics. If we add them, we plan to use a privacy friendly, cookie free service that counts page visits without tracking you across sites, and we will update this policy.
