Who this course is for
You want to tell your story, such as your family, service, recovery, faith, or survival story, or write fiction
You tell stories well out loud but get stuck when you try to write them down
You want to speak or write about your life with more power. No writing background needed
What you will be able to do
Build a story bank of at least 10 specific moments and choose one story with a clear change at its center.
Map a story onto want, obstacle, turning point, and change, and write an opening that starts close to the action.
Write a scene of 300 to 600 words that uses concrete sensory detail and action instead of summary.
Create characters (including yourself) with a clear want, a flaw, and a contradiction, in a steady voice, using correctly punctuated dialogue that reveals character and moves the story.
Write true stories about real people ethically: check and mark memory, apply a fairness test, and leave out or disclose private details.
Revise a draft in three passes with structured feedback, using AI only as a reader, and share a finished piece in writing or out loud.
