Course project
This is where you show you can do what the course promised. Build your project in the builder below. The site checks each rubric row and tells you what to fix. Your certificate needs this step and a passed Posttest.
Capstone rubric
The site checks each part. A row passes when your work matches Ready. You need all six rows.
| Part | Not yet | Getting there | Ready |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who sent it | Not found. | Found, not written. | Written down. |
| What it wants | Not found. | A guess. | The action word and what to do. |
| By when | Not found. | A date, not sure it is the deadline. | The deadline written down. |
| Must, can, or just so you know | Not sorted. | Sorted, no reason. | Sorted, with the word that shows it. |
| Summary | None. | More than three sentences, or missing a part. | Two or three sentences: who, what, when, next step. |
| Help if needed | None. | One idea. | One free help source with how to reach it. |
Compare your capstone: example answers
These are made up examples. Compare your work row by row.
A strong example
- Who: City Water Department.
- What it wants: pay the late bill of $42.10.
- By when: May 15. The date is next to Pay by.
- Sort: must do. The word must is in the letter.
- Summary: The water department says my bill of $42.10 is late. I must pay by May 15. I will pay online on May 10.
- Help: none needed.
A weak example, with feedback
- Weak: By when: the date at the top. Why and how to fix: The top date is often when it was sent. Look for words like by, due, or deadline.
- Weak: Sort: just so you know. Why and how to fix: Check the action words. Must or need to means you have to act.
- Weak: Summary: a full page copy of the letter. Why and how to fix: Use two or three sentences in your own words: who, what, by when, next step.
Fix it and try again
For each row that says Not yet, read the feedback above, go back to the lesson for that part, and fix it. Then press Check my project again. You can do this as many times as you want.
End of course self check
Mark how sure you feel about each goal. This is not a grade, and it does not change your certificate.
| I can... | 1 = not yet, 2 = with notes, 3 = on my own |
