BMU Tutors

Tutor Guidelines

Last updated October 29, 2026. Draft, pending legal review.

These rules keep students, families and tutors safe. Every tutor agrees to them before approval. Students and parents should read them too.

How BMU Tutors works

BMU only introduces students and tutors. We review applications, approve tutors, and send introductions by email. We do not run the sessions, and we do not handle payments yet.

Conduct

Safety: online or phone only

Payments: none outside BMU for now

Paid tutoring through BMU is not open yet. Until it is, tutors must not ask for or accept payment directly from students or families. That includes cash, payment apps, gift cards and bank transfers. Rates on tutor cards are planned rates for when BMU payments open. Students: never pay a tutor directly, and tell us if you are asked to.

Students under 18

Tutors are independent

Tutors are independent people, not BMU employees, agents or contractors. Tutors are responsible for their own teaching, schedules and any taxes. BMU approval means a tutor applied and agreed to these guidelines. It is not a license, a certification or a guarantee.

No guarantee of results

BMU does not guarantee a match, a tutor's availability, or any result such as a grade, a job offer or a test score.

Not an accredited institution

BMU is not an accredited institution. Tutoring through BMU does not award college credit, degrees, diplomas, licenses or professional certifications.

Breaking the rules

We may remove a tutor from the directory at any time, including for breaking these rules or for a concern about safety.
